Led by Airbus Defence and Space, 22 European partners will set off to strengthen Europe’s cyber and information warfare defence. EclecticIQ, a leading European provider of threat intelligence technology located in The Netherlands, is part of a consortium that has been selected by the European Commission to carry out the European Cyber and Information Warfare Toolbox Project (EUCINF), in the frame of the European Defence Fund (EDF) 2022.

The consortium is comprised of 22 complementary large, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as universities, from 12 European countries that will be led by Airbus Defence and Space throughout the initiative. These partners cover the entire range of cyber information warfare competences - from A.I. and cybersecurity, to system developers and more. Combined, these organisations bring technological skills, defence systems know-how, the means to support use cases as well as the ability to manage such vast programmes.

Disinformation campaigns along with a wide range of other malicious tactics, techniques and procedures are increasingly used against European Union member states in order to undermine national and international policies and safety. These threats are evolving rapidly and fully make part of Cyber and Information Warfare, against which member states need to strengthen their position and become resilient in the long run.

The EUCINF project aims to proactively develop a software toolbox that European countries can easily integrate into their Cyber and Information Warfare systems. This will include detection, analysis, fusion and threat targeting capabilities to boost their defences.

EclecticIQ’s contribution will largely center around its threat intelligence technology and deep knowledge of defence organisations’ efforts to analyse, collaborate and exchange Cyber Threat Information. The focus will be on connecting Cyber Attack and Cyber Information Warfare insights.

Karen Sundermann, VP Government Sector at EclecticIQ: “We are very excited and thankful to be participating in the EUCINF project as part of the Airbus Defence and Space consortium and for our project to have been selected by the EC under the EDF funding. This project offers EclecticIQ a great opportunity to further develop our current cyber capabilities well into the information warfare domain by bridging the gap between cyber threat intelligence and information warfare. As a strong European player in cyber threat intelligence and partner to Defence organisations, we are proud to be innovating and developing new tools in this sector to empower Defence agencies throughout the EU in their fight against information warfare.”

The grant agreement is expected to be finalised by the end of 2023 and the project will run for three years.
