2014 Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague

In order to attract international visitors to the city and to develop the region’s international image, The Hague Security Delta aims to attract relevant renowned conferences and exhibitions. The acquisition of  The Nuclear Security Summit is therefore an important milestone. The Summit is an initiative of USA President Obama. The first summit took place in Washington (April 2010), followed by a second summit in Seoul(March 2012).

 

The goal is to draw attention at the highest political level to the security of nuclear materials, in order to prevent nuclear terrorism. “Nuclear terrorism and nuclear smuggling are major threats to global security," said minister Rosenthal (Foreign Affairs). “Prevention is a top priority for the Netherlands."  Read more (article in Dutch).
