The World Innovation Conference “The Future of Law Enforcement Information Management” will take place from 10 – 12 June 2014 in the Amsterdam ArenA, the Netherlands. The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and its partners invites HSD partners to participate (as a participant or exhibitor) in this unique and multidisciplinary meeting in order to reach global solutions. Questions regarding innovation at national, European and global level will be translated to the meeting content. Furthermore the conversation will be started in order to investigate which solutions will satisfy the needs at all levels to ensure that the law enforcement domain is leading in a changing society.

Main topic: connecting global innovations for tomorrow’s reality
The main topic of the World Innovation Conference is ‘connecting global innovations for tomorrow’s reality’. The Global society is changing rapidly due to the influence of technological improvements. The world is facing new challenges in regards to the improvements of information technology. Borders are fading or no longer exist, which has an irreversible effect on the relationship between citizens, business and government in the domain of law enforcement and information management. Furthermore, the organisation of law enforcement, and the broader public safety community, is under extreme financial pressure. This requires a wider cooperation and efficient organisation of the prevention and combating of fraud, crime and terrorism. And also innovative solutions on topics as crowd management, riot control, forensic investigation, border security and the world wide web.

In order to respond adequately to this fast changing environment and continuing to work on a safer society, a new way of working and organisation structure is required for the police, judicial authorities, intelligence services and other public safety partners. Technical innovations in information management could help accelerate and support this adaptation process, however technology without improved business practices provides limited success. With this in mind, it is important to maintain a sharp focus on innovation and to formulate a collective ambition at national, European and global level. Which is the ambition of WICLEIM 2014.
