On 16 September, the first explorative market consultation “Open Source Cyber Product Development” took place at the HSD Campus. An initiative of the Ministry of Defense (Cyber Innovation Hub and FRONT), the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) in collaboration with HSD. The meeting is a follow-up to BZK State Secretary Knops's visit to HSD on 18 June this year, where the ‘digital government’ and use of open source were one of the topics.

During the 'Open Source Cyber Product Development' market consultation, government policy departments, representatives of the open source community and end-users, such as Kadaster, CBR, National Police, exchanged ideas about the challenge of how technologically high-quality cybersecurity products can be made (more) accessible to citizens, businesses and the critical infrastructures of the Netherlands. With the aim to better protect our society against digital threats. To do so, Open Source solutions can be instrumental. The Open Source philosophy is promoted by the Dutch government as a foundation that facilitates collaboration, innovation and affordability.
