Since 15 April, the second round of calls of the European Defense Industrial Development Program (EDIDP) is open. Project proposals can be submitted until 1 December 2020 and need to be related to the topics outlined in the work programme. This includes topics such as medical care, cyber security, space technology and topics such as radar technology and manned and unmanned systems on land, sea or in the air.
Companies and knowledge institutions can participate in the EDIDP on new products that are important for defense. Projects must be carried out with international consortia within the EU. With a budget of € 163 million, the European Commission wants to strengthen both the defense industry and strategic autonomy.
Because the projects are placed close to the market and because defense needs a wide range of new products and technology, this offers perfect opportunities for technologically advanced companies.
