The Twente security cluster is aiming to grow through successful innovative developments in the security domain. One example is the deployment of inspection facilities where large groups of people gather at events such as Serious Request (end of 2012) and the championship celebrations of Dutch football club FC Twente (May 2010). These facilities and services are also made available for small-scale events.

In this region, government, businesses and knowledge institutions have already been working in close collaboration in the domains of security and innovation, which has led to several technical measures and services with the purpose of a safer and more secure Dutch society. Ultimately, such and other concepts will have to provide economic stimulus for the region. In order to achieve this, the Veiligheidsregio Twente (emergency services and local authorities) have agreed to the policy program named Twente Safety & Security (S&TS). Peter den Oudsten, Mayor of Twente, announced that the Twente region will work together with the national security cluster The Hague Security Delta and thus with their counterparts in other security & innovation focused regions such as The Hague and Brabant.
