These are the innovation competitions currently taking place within the HSD network:

Defence Innovation Competition 2016

CLOSED - How can Defence become more efficient and sustainable with the use of energy during their missions? 'Energy during Operational Actions' is the theme of the Defence Innovation Competion (DIC 2016). The Ministry of Defence challenges SME's and startups to enter their new and original ideas related to the theme of this year. The winner receives a development assignment of €200.000.

 

The first round of the competion closes August 22 2016. During the final closing day on November 4th the winner will be selected out of 5 finalists.

SME Innovation Competition

CLOSED - Are you an innovative security SME with growth ambitions and do you want the visibility of your innovation and company to grow or are you looking for a stepping stone to more knowledge and new networks? Then register for the 11th edition of the SME Innovation Top 100, an initiative of HSD partner Chamber of Commerce. It offers a unique opportunity to put your innovation on display. Security Innovation Competition 2015: Smart Access Control Challenges for SMEs

CLOSED - How can access control become smarter and more secure? This was the topic of the Security Innovation Competition 2015, a cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Security and Justice. SMEs were challenged to come up with new, original ideas related to the theme ‘Smart Access Control’. The winner Cardio Acces Key by Science & Technology Corporation was announced on 15 October. They received 200,000 euro to further develop their proposal.

Security Innovation Competition 2014: Security Region

CLOSED - From May to November 2014 the Security Innovation Competition, a cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Security and Justice, took place. The competition’s goal was to stimulate innovation in the security sector and is meant specifically for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The participating businesses were challenged to find innovative security solutions. A contract worth € 200.000,- was available for the winner and is provided by both Ministies.

 

Previously, this competition was known as the Defense Innovation Competition. This year’s edition was the first time that the competition is co-produced by both ministries. Therefore, different from previous’ editions, the main focus will be on dual-use solutions within the theme ‘Security Region’. The goal, the process, and the price will however remain same.
