These are the innovation competitions currently taking place within the HSD network:

Florin Awards 2018

Florin Awards 2018

OPEN until 15 February 2018 - The Florin Awards were created in 2010 to stimulate innovation in the transaction services industry by providing the nominees and the winners with substantial benefits to assist the promotion of their innovative products. The annual “Florin Awards” will focus on 10 selected cases as both an independent jury and the ‘public vote” will rank the cases. A special award session will be held on day-2 of European Payment Summit 2018.

EC Horizon Prize: Seamless Authentication for All

EC Horizon Prize: Seamless Authentication for All

OPEN untill 27 September 2018 -  This Horizon Prize aims to award the best and most innovative user authentication solutions, with a total budget of 4 Million Euro, offering 3 (three) awards as follows:

  • 2 800 000 EUR for the winner(s)
  • 700 000 EUR for the 1st runner-up
  • 500 000 EUR for the 2nd runner-up

The winning solutions will be innovative methods that will enable everyone and their smart objects to seamlessly authenticate themselves across a wide range of applications and devices in IoT and cloud ecosystems. The solutions should be easy to use, reliable, robust against cyber-attacks, privacy-friendly, compatible with widely used technologies and affordable.

Veiligheid Innovatie Competitie 2017

CLOSED - 'How can we connect people with technology' is the topic of the Security Innovation Competition 2017 (VIC) of the Ministry of Security & Justice. Are you a SME or a startup? Try to find an innovative solution for these challenges and realise your ideas with 200,000 euro! Come to the information session on Thursday 29 June in the Auditorium of De Yp in The Hague. At this session, workers of the Ministry of Security and Justice, Defence, the National Police, the Royal Military Police and other involved parties will go into a conversation with you about the theme ‘Technology closer by’. Furthermore, there will be plenty of room to raise questions.

Defence Innovation Competition 2016

CLOSED - How can Defence become more efficient and sustainable with the use of energy during their missions? 'Energy during Operational Actions' is the theme of the Defence Innovation Competion (DIC 2016). The Ministry of Defence challenges SME's and startups to enter their new and original ideas related to the theme of this year. The winner receives a development assignment of €200.000.

 

The first round of the competion closes August 22 2016. During the final closing day on November 4th the winner will be selected out of 5 finalists.

Nokia Open Innovation Challenge 2016

CLOSED - The Nokia Open Innovation Challenge 2016, organized in partnership with venture firm Nokia Growth Partners (NGP), is looking for the next big ideas and new technologies and business models in the Internet of things (IoT) domain. Innovators, startups or academia from around the world can participate in this challenge and take a leap towards making the programmable world happen.

We are specifically looking for innovations in the provinces of connected automotive, public safety, security, industry 4.0, digital health, utilities and smart cities.

 

What’s in it for you?

  • The opportunity to enter the Nokia Innovation Accelerator Program to work with Nokia experts on creating joint business models while receiving a technology boost by accessing Nokia’s products, services and resources. In addition, a €100,000 incubation prize will be shared between the top three teams!

Security Innovation Competition 2016: Big Data Security Solutions

CLOSED - How can growing, unstructured and changing data be used? This was the topic of the 2016 edition of the Security Innovation Competition (Veilgheid Innovatie Competitie; VIC 2016). SMEs and startups were challenged by the Ministry of Security and Justice, the Ministry of Defence, the National Police and the Royal Marechaussee to come up with original ideas related to intelligent data visualisation.

 

On November 22nd, Minister Van der Steur announced the winner of the security innovation competition during the Innovation Conference. The winner ‘Open Remote’ received 200.000 euro to start a pilot with their software for smarter and more efficient border security at Schiphol. With the price of 200,000,- euro Open Remote together with the Royal Marechaussee will start a pilot.
