HSD is excited to start off 2016 with an HSD Café on Grey Security and Fraud! Our first HSD Café of the year is planned for 21 January and we would like to warmly invite you to join the discussion!

In today’s time and age, an increasing amount of government tasks are outsourced to private, non-governmental actors: shopping malls are hiring their own security, entrance to gated communities is limited, and stewards are a common sight during soccer matches. As a result of this privatization,  the responsibility to guarantee this security is shifting. When it comes to combating fraud, we observe a similar development, as the pressure on public security actors is mounting in an increasingly complex, digital society. More and more private parties are concerned with the prevention of fraud, each in its own way. How does the government positions itself in regard to this development? How can we trace and/or prevent fraudulent behavior? Which role can private parties fulfill in this? And what can a citizen do to protect him- or herself against, for example, identity fraud?

The HSD Café is set up as follows:
From 16:00 until 16:30, the following experts will share their insights on the matter through brief presentations:

- Prof. Dr. Bob Hoogenboom (Professor at Nyenrode Business University) will introduce the concept of ‘grey security’;
- Arthur de Groot (Director of the Institute for Financial Crime) will discuss;
- Salim Hadri (Managing partner at Milvum) will elaborate on Milvum participating in the hackathon and his award-winning app that protects you from identity fraud;
- Sjoerd Slot (Founder of FraudDynamics) will discuss how FraudDynamics adapts to the changing environment.

At 16:30, the brief presentations will be followed by a discussion, in which the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their views.

From 17:00 onwards, the bar is open for drinks and there will be ample opportunity to network.

About the HSD Café
The HSD Cafés are organized for HSD partners on every first and third Thursday of each month (except on public holidays). From cyber to critical infrastructure, 20 sessions will be organized around security topics relevant for companies, the government, and knowledge organizations. In the first hour (16.00-17.00) of each HSD Café, an expert will briefly present a security topic, dilemma, or innovation, followed by an informal discussion. The second part of the HSD Café (17.00-17.45) will consist of drinks and a possibility to network.

The HSD Cafés provide an excellent opportunity to meet (potential) business partners, bring along your contacts, expand your knowledge, and shape the debate on key security issues of the future. Tell us what you think. Let your voice count, expand your network, and join the debate.
