About The Hague Security Delta
What's happening in the
Dutch Security Domain?
The theme of this HSD Café will be Serious Gaming
Serious games, or computer games for non-entertainment purposes, are increasingly being used by law enforcement and defense and security organisations. Cutting edge simulations have a range of applications and benefits, for example in training security personnel or simulate crisis events. The security implications of serious gaming are slowly beginning to emerge and the advantages are increasingly apparent – form enhanced realism to effisciency. This HSD café will look at concrete initiatives that can help increase security and spur business opportunities. Mir Wermuth, program manager of the Growing Games (a stimulus program for applied gaming), will give an introduction, followed by three pitches on how serious gaming can help the security sector:
Jan Willem Huisman of IJsfontein
Derk de Geus of Paladin
Steven van Campen from E-solve
The informal discussion about how the triple helix can expand on these opportunities will be followed by drinks and networking opportunities. During the drinks there will be live serious gaming simulations and brainstorming about concrete initiatives to stimulate serious gaming in security sector.
This event is sponsored by IJsfontein.IJsfontein makes media interactive. Working with the conviction that people are naturally curious and intrinsically motivated to develop themselves. In their view, play is one of the most effective ways to encourage this natural behavior.
About the HSD Café
16.00-17.00 Presentation + Discussion
17.00-17.45 Drinks and networking
The HSD Cafés are organized for HSD partners on every first and third Thursday of each month (except on public holidays). From cyber to critical infrastructure, 20 sessions will be organized around security topics relevant for companies, the government, and knowledge organizations. In the first hour (16.00-17.00) of each HSD Café, an expert will briefly present a security topic, dilemma, or innovation, followed by an informal discussion. The second part of the HSD Café (17.00-17.45) will consist of drinks and a possibility to network.
The HSD Cafés provide an excellent opportunity to meet (potential) business partners, bring along your contacts, expand your knowledge, and shape the debate on key security issues of the future. Tell us what you think. Let your voice count, expand your network, and join the debate!
Unfortunately there is no parking available underneath the HSD Campus. From 14.00h. you can park for free in the neighbourhood.
