International ONE Conference 2017 in The Hague

On 16 & 17 May, the international ONE conference on cyber security took place in The Hague. Ministers Kamp (Economic Affairs) and State Secretary for Security and Justice, Klaas Dijkhoff, opened the event. The major two day event was organised by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), the Ministry of Security and Justice and the Ministry of Economic Affairs under the theme ‘We are all connected’.

And there will be no digitalisation without cyber security.That is why, businesses, knowledge institutions and governements need to cooperate, nationally and internationally."

 

Over the course of the two days, there were talks from over sixty national and international cyber experts including Mikko Hypponen (F-Secure), Herna Verhagen (PostNL), Michael Waksman (Jetico), Reuben Paul (CyberShaolin), Rob Bertholee (the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD), Daniel Castro (ITIF), Marcel Veening (Divitel & Secure Software Alliance), Saket Modi (Lucideus Tech) and Joshua Corman (I am the Cavalry & Atlantic Council).

 

Topics 

In a range of different sessions experts from business and industry, science and the cyber security sector discussed a wide variety of topical issues such as the economic opportunities offered by digitalisation and the threats that we face in the field of cyber security. Topics on the agenda included future European cyber security strategy, cyber security in the healthcare sector (medical devices), the ethical aspects of cyber security, cyber crime, the Internet of Things (IoT) and (new) technical vulnerabilities.

 

In addition, the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies presented the ‘Cyber Readiness Index Netherlands’. The Institute has developed a method for measuring whether and to what extent a country is prepared for cyber risks.
