Each month KPN organizes a Guest Hacker Program. For this program KPN’s Chief Information Security Office (CISO) invites prominent experts from the security industry to tell their story. In the past, Phil Zimmermann, Martin Roesch, Mikko Hyponnen and Karsten Nohl have spoken here. This program is for employees of KPN as well as for customers of KPN.

This Guest Hacker Program will take place on the 28th of February and we welcome a special international guest. Patrick Donegan will share his thoughts on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in cyber security as well as the changing role of the telecom operator in the cyber security ecosystem.

Subject
AI is already in use in cyber security. Patrick will share insights from his recent market research into the adoption of AI in the field – current and future use cases; what organizations need to do to be able to take advantage of it; the prospects of attackers starting to use AI; and how to protect the integrity of the AI systems themselves.

Having spent most of his career in the telecom sector, Patrick will also share his perspectives on the changing role of the telecom operator in the cyber security ecosystem. Having authored HardenStance “Cyber Security Innovators” papers on KPN and Deutsche Telekom and studied the cyber security strategies of other Telco’s including AT&T, Telefonica and Vodafone, Patrick will share his candid thoughts on how KPN is doing in the cyber space compared with peers.
